Group Project (GP)
SLDS recognizes the fact that to fully develop leadership skills students need practical hands-on experience. Through the process of creating and implementing team-based group projects, SLDS students learn how to catalyze, organize, and lead initiatives on campus and in the community. We are committed to developing student leaders that are prepared to take-on new challenges and to promote positive social change.
Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings. Margaret Mead

One of the most important aspects of a leader's job is to be able to lead and work in teams. In today's world, that task is becoming increasingly more complicated. Teams tend to be smaller, diversified, and called upon to solve more complex problems, have tighter budgets and they may need to function as a team without ever being in the same geographic area. There is no simple answer to make all teams successful but in this project you will learn some simple tools, strategies and behaviors that can be used to promote the success of your team in completing your project.
